Karaesyan Silat

Karaesyan Silat is founded by Gian “Manonuda” as an evolutive fighting art based on an unique approach and on the integration of various principles from different Silat styles that we studied and keep studying.

Althought the art draws elements from other Silat styles, it is not “just” a mixture of different Silat styles that make a new one up (we’re not for that kind of thing). Karaesyan Silat does have its own original, main structure and vision, which we called “The Core“, and which represents the soul of the art. Into that (The Core) we bring in and attach to it some existing elements of Silat that fits and integrate with the whole structure.

Karaesyan Silat focuses mainly on the efficiency factor in real life fighting. The practice emphasizes the progressive aspect of the training program, going form” basic and structured” to “advanced and free” expressions of one-self.

What makes Karaesyan Silat different from other kinds of Silat is the specific approach to the fighting strategy, to the application, and to the development of the tools that has to fit toghether.

As of this moment, the program is divided into 7 sections:

  • Theory
  • Solo Bits
  • Focus Mitts Bits
  • Partner Bits
  • Series
  • Drills
  • Applications

Within the Theory section we find all the elements of “The Core“, such as “Self-Visualization“, “Opponent’s Visualization“, “Relations” (Distances, Zones, Positions), “Rules of Applications“, “Mental Attitude“, “Fighting Strategies“, “Stances“, “Hands Motions Matrix“.

Unlike other Silat styles we don’t have Jurus (upper body forms), or Langkas (lower body forms), but we do have some equivalent, called “Solo Bits”, which serve the same purpose of Jurus and Langka, but with a different effect.

As we stated above, Karaesyan Silat is evolutive, because we don’t want to live in dogmas, and because we believe in the natural evolution of things. The current version of Karaesyan Silat is 0.5.

One last word: Karaesyan Silat was uncalled and unwaited for. It just took life on its own. And we couldn’t stop it, could we?
